Braxiatel had purchased a very expensive item of jewellery, a ring to be exact he bought it a long time ago it had been part of his collection but he didn't want it to remain as such. He wanted Romana to wear it, whether she accepted his proposal or not he wanted her, wanted their baby and once she was completely rested he was going to ask her to marry him, to be with him forever. Only Braxiatel was afraid of rejection, afraid to lose her, but he didn't exactly have her right now either.

He traced his fingers against the Diamond & Sapphire stones of the ring, feeling the Gorgeous Sapphires beyond his fingers. The ring wasn't cheap it was ancient an artefact but one he was willing to part with to give to the woman he loved.

A long time ago they had been another woman, he had considered giving this ring to. A woman from the future, but he refused to think about her or their child. A child he had abandoned shortly after been born.

The door opening startled him and he shoved the ring among his belongings. Leela looked at him wided eyed and gasped.

"Are you asking Romana to marry you?"

"Don't be absurd, me marrying Romana," he laughed, but anyone who knew Braxiatel would be able to see behind the lie.

Leela frowned. "I see the way you look at her. You should not be afraid of your feelings, if she is the one you truly love. I know deep down she loves you."

"Well she has the Doctor now to cater to her needs," he spat clearly jealous

"You are jealous."

"I am not jealous."

"You love her; don't be a fool, because you are too proud to tell her. I was far too late to tell Andred that I loved him before he died. I regret that very much now."

"Well nothing is going to happen to me," Braxiatel stated.

"Enough!" said Leela. "Go be with your family."

"My family?" the words felt surprisingly comfortable. He hadn't been part of a family in a long time. He had become estranged from his own family a very long time ago before the Doctor had, and long before his little sister. But now he had Romana, and a daughter.

He entered the hospital room to find Romana sound asleep, he gently pressed a kiss to her forehead. His baby daughter was started to cry in the cot and he moved towards her.

He put his finger to his lips." shhh mummy sleeping," she looked up at him her eyes fixing on him as she gripped his fingers

"When you are older, me and you will go on really great adventures, we might even let mummy tag along," he smirked

"I fall asleep and you are filling her head full of I don't know," mumbled Romana

"Not at all, my Lady, how you feeling?"

She got up from the bed her long nightgown trailing across the floor. She was just so beautiful to him.

Brax was no good with words. If he couldn't find the right words he would have to do it with actions and not words.

At the collection for a long time they had been, Bernice Summerfield, his best friend and when the planet she had habited was destroyed he invited her to come to the collection, made her a permanent guest, but he had never been able to express his feelings for her and now there was Romana the girl he had tutored all those years, the girl he shaped into his president , the girl he couldn't stop loving and would love from afar if necessary and knowing she deserved better than idiots like Narvin and his own brother, neither got it that Romana was something quite special and unique.

"Braxiatel, you are staring at me," she pointed out

He gently took her face into his hands and gently kissed her not knowing if this was what she wanted. He felt arms pull him away, twisting his hands behind his back forcefully

It was the Doctor with his many guards. "Nobody touches the Lady President!" hissed the Doctor.

Romana gasped. "He meant no harm, let him go."

"I cannot do that my Lady President.," the Doctor replied.

"I am President of Gallifrey and I demand you release him immediately and if it is not too much trouble, Doctor, I want to see you in my office.

"I must protest. You have just given birth."

"At once," she hissed. "Now do you understand me? Now you may go," she replied in a cold tone. All of you."

She waited until they all left.

"Oh Brax," she sighed silently. It wasn't as if she didn't love him but it just wasn't the right time to be with him, to conduct a relationship. She wanted to grab him, kiss him. It would all be so easy, but this Gallifrey believed she was their president which meant she was supposed to be with the Doctor, and yet she needed Braxiatel .She loved him; she just couldn't let herself have love.

"Brax," she said before he left. He turned around

"It's all right," he said calmly. "I will take care of you both."

He gently touched her face. "Romana marry me."

Romana looked shocked. "Sorry what did you just say?"

"I want to marry you."

"Braxiatel this isn't a spree of the moment thing is it?"

He fished out a ring from his pocket. "It was in my collection, and I wanted to give it to you for so long."

"It's beautiful," Romana exclaimed. It was adored in emeralds gold and silver. He even had her name engraved on the ring.

"I want to give you everything you deserve. I'd never intentionally hurt you."

He couldn't read her. Wondering what she was thinking about.

She started to shake her head.

He pressed his hand into the small of her back, drawing her closer, and let his mouth press against hers. She seemed shocked at first, but she didn't try to stop him. it felt like she was fighting her feelings but, eventually she gave in and kissed him back with a passion he had never felt before between them.

Suddenly she pulled away. "What am I doing?" she mumbled She couldn't kiss him she couldn't have love.

He reached for her pulling her into his embrace and she clung desperately to him.

"It's all right," Brax said he gently ran his fingers through her hair before leaving a trail of kisses across her face trailing down to her neck before she pressed her lips against his and kissed him. She didn't want to be alone; she wanted Brax more than she ever wanted anything before.

Finally they pulled apart.

"I will marry you," Romana finally said.
