ROSE'S BLOG

Chapter Thirty Three

Rose was fuming as she walked towards the console room. After leaving them alone, the Doctor or the TARDIS restored Nine's head to normal size and she was able to spend a few moments alone with him before he told her he had to go but she was still angry over what her Doctor did to him.

She entered the console room and stopped when she saw what was by the console. There was a gigantic bouquet of roses, nearly seven feet tall with a white banner wrapped around them that said, I'M SORRY. Next to that was a large heart shaped box of chocolates and a little white teddy bear with a red ribbon around its neck. Rose looked around for the Doctor but didn't see him.

"Coward," Rose muttered.

Still, she couldn't help but be touched at the gifts. She figured he thought he was being silly and teasing her and then realized he went a bit overboard and this was his way of making up for what he'd done. She walked over to the jump seat and sat down to wait for him. And waited...and waited.

After an hour of waiting, she tired of sitting on the jump seat and left the room without touching the gifts. She went to her room, took a shower in her en suite bathroom and dressed in a pink nightdress and slippers with the intention of settling in for the night and reading a book. She opened the door to her bathroom and froze when she saw the Doctor standing in her doorway, a mournful expression on his face.

"You didn't touch my gifts," he said to her.

"I'm not in the mood for gifts, Doctor."

"Oh come on, it was just a joke," the Doctor said angrily.

"NOT TO ME, IT WASN'T!"

Rose and the Doctor were both equally stunned by her angry outburst.

"I'm sorry," the Doctor said, his eyes lowering to the floor. "I never meant to make you cross. I thought you and I, we always liked having a giggle like this. I didn't realize...how much he still meant to you."

Rose fell silent. The Doctor bid her goodnight and turned to leave. He stopped when Rose called to him to wait. He turned towards her and Rose could see the pain in his eyes.

"I'm sorry as well," Rose said, coming towards him. "I suppose it is hard trying to compete with yourself."

"I never meant any harm, Rose. You know how you and me, we have a laugh. I thought it would be funny to enlarge my other self's head. Especially since he had big ears to begin with."

Rose chuckled at that.

"I thought the ears were cute," she purred as she came closer to him.

"Really? Because I'm surprised I didn't pick up signals from Pluto with those things. Or fly like Dumbo. Actually, there's a thought...next regeneration, I have enormous ears that allow me to fly. Then I can hover over you at night when you sleep like a great big bird."

"Who says I want you to change?" Rose teased as she pulled him closer to her.

The Doctor raised an eyebrow.

"You were all for snogging my hologram a moment ago," he said.

"Wasn't snogging him. We just talked for a bit."

The Doctor nodded. Then he grinned and told Rose to wait a moment before leaving the room. She wasn't sure what was going on now but she assumed the Doctor wasn't upset any longer. Five minutes later, he entered the room and Rose was about to ask if things were better between them when she suddenly realized his body was translucent and she realized it was a hologram of himself.

"Doctor, what's going on? Why is a hologram here?" Rose said.

To her surprise, the head starting swelling up like it did with Nine's hologram. Rose burst out laughing and the hologram feigned confusion and scratched the side of his swelled up head.

"What's so funny?" the Doctor said. "Is there something amusing that I'm not aware of?"

"Okay, you're forgiven if you're willing to do this to yourself," Rose said between her giggles.

"Do what to myself?" the Doctor said as the head kept on getting bigger and bigger until it dwarfed the rest of his body and filled a third of the room. Rose laughed when Holodoctor pretended to pick his enormous nose.

"So...what's next on our agenda then? More meany mean things about me in your wee blog?" he said with half his arm up his huge nostril.

"Um...no, I'll be nice to you," Rose said.

"Ah, jolly good," Holodoctor said. "So...nighty night then, gotta get this bogie out of my nose. So...carry on with bedtime and all that."

"Cheers," Rose said, feeling more love for him than she had previously.

She laughed when the hologram walked out and his head went through most of the wall. Rose shook her head and chuckled, thinking how things like this never happened with her and Mickey but loving that it did with her and the Doctor.

"Night, Doctor, you silly old thing, you," she murmured to herself before she finished getting ready for bed.
