THE CHOICES OF A TIME LORD

Author note chapter 6 is now up, sorry for the long wait. Please review as I really want to improve.

Disclaimer I don't own Doctor who.

Erisa stood in the high council chambers before the President, the guards standing on both sides of her.

"Kneel," spat Maxil, pushing her to the ground. She didn't understand why Maxil was being so cold towards her yet again. She vaguely remembered seeing compassion in his eyes earlier. She knew she had lost consciousness and he had given her something to wake her up, but now he was acting like nothing of the sort had ever happened.

"My Lord President," whispered Erisa her voice was barely a whisper. Gone was the seemingly over-confident girl she had been days ago. Now she was only a shadow of her former self. Her eyes were red, her face was very pale and she looked thinner than ever.

"It has come to our attention that you knew, or took part in the Doctor meeting his future self before his death. As you are well aware breaking the first law of time is a very serious offence and we now need to decide on what to do with you."

"Do, with me, Lord President?"

"Yes child, we cannot be seen to make allowances despite your loss."

"What are you going do to me?" she asked. Her voice showed no emotion, nor gave anything away.

For Flavia it looked like the young girl was too broken, that nothing mattered any more to her. She couldn't read her thoughts, but she could definitely read her body language.

"Since you were so desperate to go to the planet Earth, you will be sent there in exile, in the middle of the Dalek invasion without help or protection and you will be forced to regenerate. You will be given the TARDIS the Doctor had, but one journey will be all it will give you. After this one trip, it will not function for you."

Erisa stood up; fear was written on her face. "You cannot do this! I am one of you; this is my planet, my home. You cannot just exile me in the middle of a war, without help or protection!"

"Child, you leave us with very little choice." Chancellor Flavia remarked looking upon the young Time Lady with great concern. She could sense the pain and turmoil she was dealing with. She had suffered so much loss, so much pain, but yet she was still very much a child.

"I didn't have any part in it!" Erisa shouted, anger inflecting in her voice, "This isn't fair!" They couldn't just exile her, she knew no one on earth.

"But you were aware of this future Doctor, and were seen in his presence. This is a very serious offence: to mess with time in this manner," the President spoke in a grave voice.

"Lord President," Chancellor Flavia fixed her glaze on him.

"We are prepared to give you an alternative. We are prepared to give you a full pardon due to the circumstances of your loss such as the fact you have no remaining family, and if Rassilon was still alive, he would want you to remain under our guardianship," the President said.

"What's the catch?" Erisa spat, clearly ungrateful to the alternative. "There always is with you lot. What is it I must do? What level of interference do I have put up with this time in my life?"

The President raised an eye brow "Interference? We rarely interfere in other Time Lords lives."

"Except mine, except the Doctor's."

"Child, as we told you previously, you and the Doctor were a special case. You got your freedom, and on occasion we asked you to do something for us. Freedom you abused through your life on Gallifrey. We could have taken your freedom away but how did you repay Gallifrey? With your wild child behaviour."

"You have no right!" spat Erisa "This is my life you are messing around with! I should be allowed to choose-"

"We propose to place you under the care of a Time Lord, who will be your husband."

"Husband?" she shook her head. She had just lost the Doctor, and they planned to force her to marry.

"Yes, you will have everything you desire; security, safety-"

"But not love," Erisa interrupted. "Who?" She whispered.

"We have chosen Commander Maxil. He is a good man."

She glanced at him, but his cold glaze was fixed on her.

"Never, I will not marry him."

"Then the Alternative will be carried out. Guards!" Both of the Guards took hold of her and led her towards the Regeneration machine. She attempted to struggle against them, but they were too strong for her as she tried in vain to break free. They held her firmly as the President looked at her this time not with kindness, but contempt.

"Do you have anything further to say?" asked the President.

"I have a great deal to say," spat Erisa. "He's dead because of you! Cowards!" she hissed.

Erisa eyes flickered open finding herself laying in a bed on the TARDIS having no recollection of what occurred. Falling out of bed, she headed towards the door before she suddenly fell out of consciousness again, her body thudding heavily onto the floor outside.

She was vaguely aware of someone shaking her, she forced her eyes open. "We are all going be killed," someone muttered while another said, "The Daleks are coming!" as the familiar sound of the Daleks was heard. "All prisoners will move from this area. Move move ." Everyone instantly started to move away.

"Identify, you will identify," screeched the Dalek at her, but the words would not come. She was terrified; she couldn't remember how she came to be here anyway. She managed to scramble to her feet. "The Prisoner will be taken for interrogation," the Dalek screamed as they forced her to walk towards the interrogation bay, all the time while prodding her as she walked. She must have lost unconscious again as she found herself in a cold dungeon. That's when she remembered about all that had occurred: the Doctor's death, the white guardian, a forced Regeneration and being exiled by the Time Lords. How could they do that to her she was one of them? She was born on Gallifrey, studied at the Academy, but yet had experienced so much pain on her home planet. "Doctor." she whispered not realising she was not alone

"The Doc-tor," screeched the Dalek, she tried get away, but stumbled onto the floor. More Daleks ended the room.

"The Prisoner will stand."

Erisa scrambled to her feet.

"You know of the Daleks? Speak True or False?"

"True all right, true, true, true!" she shouted.

"You came to spy on us, and stop our victory? True or False?" Erisa started to tremble she knew then it was all over for her.

"True!" she spat. "You killed someone I loved. I have nothing to lose, so kill me if it will stop you destroying this world!" Ignoring her display they fired a final question.

"You are an enemy of the Daleks true or false?"

Erisa remained silent. "Well what you waiting for Dalek? Kill me, just kill me. I can't live like this any more." She fell to the ground, reflecting on all she lost her family, the Doctor and now being exiled from her home planet.

"This one has knowledge of the Doctor, and the Time Lords. She must be taken to Davros for interrogation."

She struggled to her feet, "And if I refuse?"

"Then you must be exterminated. Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!" the Daleks screeched in unity. Erisa closed her eyes bracing for death. She was then lead outside into the open air. Seeing the destruction herself shocked her, as she remembered the first time the Doctor brought her to this planet. It had being one of the first trips the Doctor took her to. She remembered if it was yesterday...

"Here we are then!" he announced as, they landed onto the planet.

"You brought me to Earth!" gasped Erisa, "I should have known! Your favourite planet."

"How do you know that?" asked the Doctor.

"Oh everyone knows that."

"You have never been to Earth. How would you know?"

"Way back in the Academy, we were told a story of Earth. We were told that Earth was once Gallifrey, and was once a lot bigger than it is now. The sky was probably orange. Is that true Doctor?"

"It's just a story," he said looking at her, "still I was right, they don't teach you anything useful in the Academy."

Erisa was still weak from the regeneration that was forced upon her. She saw the young girl a few inches away who gave her a look of concern. The Daleks no longer paying attention to either girl.

"Where did the city go?" she mumbled, as she tried to control the nausea she now felt. "You're Sally? Sally Sparrow, aren't you? "

"Who are you?" Sally asked. However they were suddenly interrupted by the Daleks.

"Talking will cease! The Time Lord will stand." However Erisa couldn't, as a sudden wave of sickness hit her, making her vomit. Wiping the sick of her mouth, she laid down on the ground, as the sound of the TARDIS was heard. "Impossible," she groaned, as another wave of sickness hit her. A man stepped out of the TARDIS, but looked nothing like the future Doctor she saw earlier. He was tall and dark, making even Erisa gasp at his presence. She had seen him in her visions, and they had not been good visions, not at all. Pointing the large energy gun at the Daleks, they suddenly exploded into flames. Erisa tried pull herself up but she didn't have the energy, as she slumped back onto the ground.
