A door swung open to Sophie's right and when she looked over she saw a nurse looking down at something on the clipboard in her hands. It simply read 'Test Subject'. The nurse glanced at the comatose girl on the bed. She was just a child the same age as her sister. How could they use this young girl for their own means? she thought silently to herself.

The nurse was tall and slim with soft red hair and sparkling green eyes. She wore a red nursing outfit as she walked slightly farther into the room, reading what Sophie now assumed was her chart since she was the only one in here.

"Where am I?" Sophie asked quietly.

"You're awake!" the nurse gasped, obviously surprised "you're at City Bay Hospital. You've been in a coma for the past ten months."

"What happened?" Sophie asked, becoming more aware of what was happening around her. The room was small there was a strong smell of disinfection. There were no get well cards or flowers and she didn't seem to have any belongings. Didn't anyone visit me? she thought to herself.

"You had an accident" the nurse replied, stepping up beside her. "You were hit by a car, It's a miracle you're still alive, let alone awake."

"Why don't I have any visitors." the girl asked. "Surely I must have parents, why does it say I am a 'test subject'?" The questions rolled off the girl's tongue.

"Don't worry, you are going to be fine." said the Nurse, walking out of the room.

As the door shut behind her, the nurse sighed. She never ever signed up for this, she didn't do medical school for seven years to get involved in having innocent children involved in the test subject program. She couldn't do this, she wouldn't. She walked through the long white corridor and out of the big double doors of the hospital. Tears fell from her eyes. What was she doing here? She had being aware of the program since Day One , but it was wrong – no it was more than wrong, it was unethical. As she wiped the tears away, more fell. What had she got herself into?

.oOo.

It had being ten months since she had hit that girl and in all that time the nightmares had continued to plague her seeing that young girl lying on the ground. She had stayed with her until the ambulance had arrived, and she had tried to call to find out news of her, but nobody would tell her anything because she wasn't a relative.

Rani interrupted her thoughts "You still thinking about that girl, aren't you? Rani asked.

"It was my fault and now I don't know if she is dead or alive."

"Come on, it was an accident Sarah Jane."

"I was so careless."

There was just something that wouldn't let Sarah Jane let it go, they had being a school nearby and she remembered her wearing a school uniform. Sarah Jane walked into the Attic followed by Rani and Clyde.

"Mr Smith I need you." Then, complete with fanfare, the vast machine revealed itself. "Yes, Sarah Jane? How can I help you?"

"I need to know about any schools near to Crescent Drive."

The computer whirred whilst it came up with an answer, as Sarah Jane waited patiently.

"There is one called Park Hill's Elite School. It is an very elite school. Little is known about it but it is believed the children are raised there as babies for some sort of test program. The children are not known to be created naturally and they live short lives, and a lot of tests are in fact undertaken within their local hospital: City Bay Hospital"

"Why do you ask, Sarah Jane?"

"I think I will take a look at that hospital ."

"Will that be all, Sarah Jane."

"Yes." Turning away from the computer.

"Are we going there?" asked Rani

"No; you two have to go to school" replied Sarah really firmly.

"But Sarah Jane- " Clyde started to say.

"Off you go. School."

"All right." groaned Rani.

.oOo.

Sophie tried to pull herself up, but her legs were still numb. She tried with all her strength to sit up. She pulled the tubes out of her and pulled the 'Test Subject' label off her arm. She tried to swing her legs over the bed, but they refused to move, and as she lurched herself off the bed she fell on the hard cold floor. She groaned in pain as her whole body wrecked in pain.

She suddenly heard the door open and voices shouting. "Can we have some help in here please?", but by then she had drifted into unconsciousness.

.oOo.

"Kirsty," she heard the angry voice. turning around, she saw it was her boss. She sighed.

"Yes, what is it?" asked Kirsty.

"Sophie Williams," her boss spat. "She tried to get out of the bed and hurt herself in doing so. Do you know how much damage you could have caused if she had got out of the hospital, putting our whole operation in danger."

Kirsty prepared herself for listening to his garbage today and she was tired of him; she was a trained nurse.

"Do you ever sleep at night?" she hissed. "She is just a child, you have no right."

"It is bit late to develop a conscience now. You have known about it since Day One, you cannot drop out now."

"I didn't sign up for this, not any of it." she whispered as her Boss stormed off.

.oOo.

Sarah Jane Smith entered the hospital, heading straight for the reception area.

"Yes, can I help you?" asked the young receptionist. She was young, probably barely out of school herself.

"Yes I'm looking for the 'Test Subject' Area I have an interview…"

The girl not even bothering to check just looked bored. "5th Floor." she said. "It's room 208..."

"Thank you." said Sarah Jane, walking towards the lift. Finally reaching the 5th floor she stood outside room 208 hesitating only slightly before she entered. Sarah Jane gasped; it was her, the girl she had hit with her car. She was awake but strapped to the bed with heavy restraints and she had tubes in her arms. The room was empty apart from the girl and blinking machines. There were marks on her arms where she was being held down with strong restraints and where tubes had being inserted into her arms.

"Help me." she whispered her voice was barely a whisper.
