"It's like its slipping away like a dream that never was watching someone else's life but yet it seemed it was mine, I don't know. I must sound like..." Emmaline stopped, for one reason she felt she was making no sense at all. The visions that seemed to dance and play in her head did not make sense she was gallifrean wasn't she? Her parents were the Doctor and Romana and Gander he had being a father to her during the Doctor's absence in her life.

"No, go on." urged Damon.

"Her parents were holding her among the destruction the Daleks were whizzing past destroying the worlds above her then, suddenly the ground gave way and the child was separated from her parents and that's all I see. That little child crawling on the ground crying, she looked so scared. I feel like an outsider to this world Damon, to Gallifrey, I don't know why, this is all I have ever known, but it doesn't feel mine" She bit her lip.

"It's all right." he said squeezing her hand. "I know what happened to you, what they did to you, but Emmaline I need you to know I would never do anything like that, I would never hurt you" Damon knew that he could never hurt Emmaline, the thought alone pained him, he wanted to protect her from all harm in the name of his love for her, he had always loved her, ever since they were in the Academy together and yet he never felt like he could voice his feelings.

"How long have you known?" Emmaline whispered. "Is it like public knowledge?"

"Since you came back to Gallifrey. I wish I had known what they did to you before, maybe I could have stopped it done something."

"Rassilion?" whispered Emmaline. "But I killed him I think." her mind continued to wander

Rassilion was edging towards her as she tried to run, stumbling on the way; he was gaining on her an evil piercing smile on his cold, thin lips. She couldn't run anymore, she was terrified and alone "You infamous child" he spat pulling her up, she knew what would come next, she had known all along. He inflicted her blow after blow until she blacked out.

Damon shook his head. "If you had, do you think they would allowed you to escape their judgement?"

"I don't know but I see the image in my head over and over again, what he did to me, me with his blood on my hands. Did any of it happen?"

"He did a lot of damage to you, both Rassilion and the then chancellor. Then you ended up escaping from Gallifrey in a TARDIS. I doubt you even knew what had happened; they had you locked up for long time. I am your friend Emmaline. Just never forget that.

"Friends," whispered Emmaline I didn't know I had any."

"We were always friends in the Academy," Damon said.

"I wasn't allowed friends. The daughter of the President was not allowed the luxury of friends. I had body guards trailing my every move despite the amount of times I tried to escape them.

"Did you manage it?"

"No," sighed Emmaline. "I hated the Academy," said Emmaline... She had very few friends in the Academy, the only two friends she had were Damon and Wynter. She really missed Wynter, he had been everything to her and she had loved him deeply, but after he died, there was no means to replace him, for the whole of Gallifrey there could be nobody else she could love in the same way.

"Doesn't everyone?" he pulled out a picture from his pocket in it was Damon, Wynter and her during their time at the Academy dressed in the blue robes. Emmaline was in the middle and the two Time Lords were on each side of her. The photo brought back so many memories for her.

"Wynter," she whispered, as a tear trickled down her face. "I miss him so much. They can never be anyone else for me". Damon wrapped a comforting arm around her.

"I am sorry, for your loss, for everything you've been through since that day, Wynter was a good man."

"A very good man," whispered Emmaline, as she rested her head upon Damon shoulder.

Gander knew he would have to tell Emmaline the truth about who she was he had watched this child whom he loved as a daughter and now she was a teenager, one that was now questioning everything about herself and who she was. He had spent many nights, unable to sleep worrying about this day, having to tell her the truth and as he walked into the medical wing. Emmaline was sat up in the bed with a bandage around her head but as soon as she saw him she stiffened and everything grew silent, a sterile ambience between the two. Did she despise him? Had it come to that point? Gander could see disgust in Emmaline eyes every time she looked at him.

"Hey sweetie" said Gander coming towards the bed. "How you feeling" she gripped Damon's hand tightly her eyes pleading for him not to leave her.

"Damon, leave us."

Damon looked at Emmaline.

"Now!" he boomed making Emmaline jump and he only saw one thing in her eyes: fear.

"I'm sorry." realising he had gone too far. "I just want to talk to my daughter alone."

Emmaline climbed of the bed and faced Gander. "You lied to me! Who am I?" she asked glaring at Gander.

Gander shifted uncomfortable on the spot and he saw a confused painful look upon her face.

"You knew all this time." she spat as she pulled herself off the bed. "What else are you keeping from me?" Emmaline paused. "You know what? It's funny because I thought to myself Gander he is like my dad, he wouldn't lie to me because he loves me, now it turns out that I was just deluding myself because you are the liar here, do you even know the truth?"

"How?-

"I heard you and Romana talking?"

"None of this was Romana's fault."

"Oh I know that. I figured that much out because it's what you do you, manipulate people. That's what the CIA is all about, isn't it? A bunch of backstabbing snakes"

"It was for the good of-"

"Good of Gallifrey? Is that what you were going to say? Well?" but Gander remained silent.

Suddenly Emmaline gasped as visions filled her head. "No," she whispered, trying to steady herself as she tried form the words, but they simply wouldn't come and it looked like every word she tried to say caused her agonizing pain, as she cried out, but she managed to say the word "Academy", but suddenly the room spun around her as she stumbled,as she groaned she touched her head as fresh blood started to seep from it, as she cried out in pain.

"Head injury." said Gander As he moved towards Emmaline. "Let me help you Emmaline."

"Go away" she hissed every time he tried get near her. "Academy not safe." she managed to say as her words became slurred whispers and then everything went black, she stumbled and Gander caught her before she fell.

Romana ran into the medical wing, as Emmaline was laying in the bed unconscious the bandage on her head was covered in blood and Gander was putting a fresh dressing on her

Gander looked at his little girl laying there Emmaline was his little girl in his eyes, the daughter he never had, he had raised her before she had been exposed to all that death and destruction which was the Doctor's world, but he had damaged her too, they all had, how could something good turn into such a mess? They had all lied to her in one way or another.

"We need to talk later." Gander said looking at Romana, she Romana simply nodded as she made her way towards Emmaline.

Emmaline's eyes opened. She groaned as her eyes glanced around her, she found herself in a bed, she tried to pull herself up, but she had so little strength, she tried to remember what had happened as she touched the bandage on her head. She knew she was back on Gallifrey, but that was it.

"Emmaline." Romana spoke softly.

"Where's Jack?" she said.

"Jack?" Romana asked

"He was just here I think" as she groaned in pain.

"Well the only person I was aware of being here with you was Damon."

"Damon?" she whispered How could she have forgot Damon? her friend in the Academy her mind felt all mixed up as parts of the previous days came back to her Damon had been there when she collapsed had he been the one taking care of her as she drifted into sleep?

The door swung open and standing there was Bainbridge.

"What is it?" Romana asked in a shaky voice.

"Do you think you are going to get away with this?" he snarled his face consorted with rage.

"I was President once still would be if- -" Romana started.

"Was, but you aren't anymore. You were a bad president with bad policies and too many mistakes."

"I don't see you doing better; there are plans within the high council to have you removed from office."

"No, I will tell you what's going to happen."

Gander suddenly appeared in the doorway

"Get out" he hissed angrily. "I warned you Bainbridge if you ever hurt anyone I care about there would be consequences and your time in office will no longer be."

"Call your guard dog off "demanded Bainbridge.

"Gander please I can handle this."

"Yes, but you shouldn't have to put up with such scum."

"My priority is to Emmaline and to Gallifrey," Romana said quietly.

"That creature is nothing to Gallifrey."

"That creature that you refer to is my daughter and is very important to Gallifrey. She has done more for Gallifrey than you have done in your miserable little pathetic existence" Spat Gander.

"You will regret this!" snapped Bainbridge.

"I do not think so Bainbridge, now leave."

Bainbridge turned to leave, but at the last second he turned around an icy look upon his face which chilled even Romana. She remembered being at the mercy of that thing and that was the Doctor's son

"Oh Gander Co-ordinator Gander should I say it is all right I call you that isn't it?"

"Would it make any difference if I said no?"

"Probably not. As President I can do whatever I feel is right, with the backing of the high council"

"Which you soon will not have."

"I am going to tear your life apart everything you love, everything you value I am going to destroy."

Romana's eyes widened with fear as she gripped the edge of the chair to steady herself his words still scared her. When she looked at him she was sure that he had no soul, that he was thoroughly evil maybe even more evil than the Master.

"Look, I told you before; there is nothing you can do to me."

"But to those you love I can do whatever I wish to them starting with that creature in that bed."

"You touch her and I swear to Rassilion I will kill you." spat Gander.

"The only reason is because the CIA are very interested in her because of her gifts isn't that right?"

"That is classified information, as I'm sure you know."

A chilling, evil smile escaped Bainbridge as he walked out of the room.

Gander gasped "Romana" he glanced at her and he saw what he had seen in Emmaline so many times before: fear. "Romana, I won't let anything happen. I promise I will have her guarded night and day while she is in there. How is Emmaline doing?" Gander asked. "I should have picked up on her injuries straight away, she wasn't acting herself "he walked over to her bedside where the machine beeped steadily with the drip in her arm insisted fluids into her.

"What Bainbridge said, is it the truth?" Romana asked.

Gander shifted uncomfortable "in a manner of speaking."

"What in Rassilion's name is wrong with you? First Brax then you, you lied to me!"

"I have lied to so many people, for the good of Gallifrey."

"A straight answer please, Co-ordinator."

"Yes, there was an interest in her before I became Co-ordinator, they have being trying to train her into using her gifts so she would be useful, but she's scared of it"

"My daughter is not getting involved with the CIA .Do I make myself clear Gander?"

"With respect Romana."

"Do I make myself clear Co-ordinator?"

"Yes,"

"And that is my last word on the subject." it was at times like these that Romana missed Brax's wisdom and guidance, although Gander was a trusted friend he was CIA which meant she couldn't fully trust him. "Oh Brax," she whispered, "All is forgiven."

Suddenly the Door swung open "Co-ordinator" said Vansell.

"Yes, what is it?"

"We have a situation, the Academy has being attacked."

"By whom or what?"

"A bomb the students are being Evacuated now however there are still many people trapped" Gander's heart started beating fast; his family were part of the Academy.

Romana's eyes widened with fear Gallifrey was being attacked Romana followed Gander out as she ran but nothing could have prepared for what she saw. This had being the second time the Academy had being attacked.

It was like something out of a horror movie, the Academy was no more as thick black smoke poured out of the building, hundreds had already being evacuated, but they were many still trapped inside, injured students littered the hallways while the capital rocked, suddenly the windows and doors shattered, exploding in a million pieces, the debris littered the ground.

It was then that he realised Emmaline had tried to warn him, he desperately pushed his way into the Academy, but the smoke forced him to back down.
