As she sat in the aisle, Romana knew these court procedures would drag on for much of the day. Her mind continued to wander, contemplating the last few days, and she lost focus on the court procedures. She glanced over at the Co-ordinator who was sitting two aisles away from her, but he never once looked in her direction, he just stared straight ahead as if he had not noticed her. Maybe that was for the best; things could become complicated so fast if she even allowed herself to feel anything for him.

"This is monstrous! I am Lord President of Gallifrey! If anyone should be on charges it should be Romana and that creature she allowed in Gallifrey!"

Romana's head shot up at the sound of her name being shouted in Bainbridge's coarse voice. She snapped out of her thoughts and back to reality. Romana knew it would always come back to Emmaline; her little girl who had suffered so much at his hands, that little girl she promised to protect and care for, and where was she now? Romana had no idea; she had been discharged from the medical station; that much she knew. All she knew was that Emmaline was out there on Gallifrey running scared, her memories all mixed up-- it sickened Romana how any Time Lord could stoop so low, of course she knew planting false memories was no new thing; it was a painful procedure. They would change Time Lords' memories, go rooting in their heads, change their thoughts, their beliefs even their ideas and the most terrifying thing was you wouldn't even know they had done it. She just prayed for Rassilion's sake that Braxiatel would find Emmaline before it was too late.

"Be silent!" Shouted Cardinal Lenadi, causing everyone to jump.

"I beg your pardon? You can't speak to me like that!" At that the court room filled with conflicting mutters and accusations as the court room was divided. It seemed even in such terrible times on Gallifrey, there were still Time Lords willing to follow Bainbridge into even darker days on Gallifrey, if that was at all possible.

"Might I remind you Lord President that a vote of no confidence has been set in motion? As such I therefore strip you from your great office."

The silence was deafening. Then Bainbridge jumped up. "You cannot do that! It's not fair!" His face got redder and redder.

"Take him away," ordered the Cardinal as the chancellor guards stepped forward leading him away.

"Until a new President can be appointed. I appoint Romanadvoratrelundar as acting president." He turned to Romana. "Do you accept this appointment?"

"I do," she said.

Emmaline knelt on the ground. This was where they had taken the dead body of Wynter and put him in a hole. There was no name on the grave, but in years gone by she put flowers around his grave and tended to it. "I hate Gallifrey," she snivelled. "The only comfort I have is that you did not see what it became,"

A tear rolled down her face, and she wiped it away swiftly. Emotions were bad on Gallifrey. "Oh, Wynter I miss you so much, there is not a day I don't think about you, but one day I will see you again. I have my beliefs, they may not be shared with the other Time Lords, but I believe it anyway..." Emmaline briefly shut her eyes and drifted off to sleep beside the grave.

Some time later, a hand on her shoulder startled her awake. Turning around she saw Braxiatel standing there.

"Emmaline, come your presence has being requested."

"Braxiatel, Why are you here? It's not like I am even family." Emmaline protested.

"I still consider you family... it matters not where you came from, you are my niece and nothing you say or do can change it" Braxiatel said firmly.

"Even if I did something terribly bad?"

"Even then." Braxiatel affirmed, nodding vigorously.

"One day I am going to kill-" Emmaline began vehemently.

"No, Emmaline that is not the way, he will get his just deserves I promise you that."

Emmaline sniffed, and then realised something. "How did you find me?" she asked.

"This is where you always go, when you are sad." Braxiatel explained. "You still miss him but maybe it's time to let him go. Why won't you let him go? What about Damon? I know he cares deeply for you."

"I won't allow myself to love him."

"Why not?"

"Because..." Because there were too many reasons not to allow anyone else inside. Because it hurt too much the loss the pain he was so young only in his first body...She once heard Romana say that Time Lords aren't used to dealing with death, but that didn't seem true any more. She had witnessed so much death on Gallifrey, Time Lords that had brutally died for no valid reason. She was sure Gallifrey was cursed.

"Yes?" Braxiatel pressed for an answer.

"Because... We made a vow to only love one another, even death. What I had with Wynter was special, unique... there can be nobody else for me like that." Emmaline sighed, trying to stop any more tears from falling.

"Emmaline, he would want you to be happy."

"It hasn't been that long," she said wiping her eyes, though the tears continued to fall down her face. "Best friend I ever had."

"Oh Emmaline, what am I going to do with you? I see so many people on Gallifrey that care so much about you and you won't let them in. You are so troubled over many things but I see so much in you. You should let Damon in; he could help you heal."

"Damon... he does not feel that way towards me, he is just a friend." Emmaline insisted, but Braxiatel was already shaking his head in disagreement.

"No, Emmaline, I have seen the way he looks at you; it's not like a friend. And when you were injured he stayed by your bedside, often neglecting his duties on Gallifrey."

The young Time Lady frowned. "But if that's true, why didn't he tell me?"

"I am sure he has his reasons, but he seems to not be able to express his feelings in words."

"I don't belong on Gallifrey; you know that I am an outsider and because of that I see things that others may not." Emmaline spoke almost as if she was just talking to herself.

Braxiatel ignored this comment. He had a feeling that there was something deeper, another internal conflict that Emmaline was having trouble with at the moment. "What's really going on Emilie?" He said using her childhood nick name.

"Nothing." The answer was short and abrupt, confirming Braxiatel's suspicions that there was more that Emmaline wanted to say.

"This is me, you are talking to, Emmaline. I know when you are holding something back."

"It is nothing," Emmaline said quietly, but she was biting her lip.

"Emmaline..." Braxiatel pushed a little harder.

Emmaline looked down at her hands, avoiding eye contact. There was no point in trying to hide things from Braxiatel; he would always get them out of you. "I don't want to go back to the Academy." She whispered, but loud enough for Braxiatel to hear it.

Braxiatel sighed."Oh, Emmaline, What are we going to do with you?"

"I hate the Academy."

Braxiatel laughed. "Everyone hates the Academy. Romana said the very same thing to me many centuries ago. You are not meant to enjoy it."

"My class mates-"

"Are jealous." Braxiatel asserted firmly. Emmaline wasn't really sure if she believed that, but accepted it anyway.

They was a long pause before Braxiatel spoke again." I have a deal for you."

Emmaline looked up suspiciously. "What kind of deal?"

"If you really don't want go back to the Academy would you be prepared to put yourself under my guidance? And I would become your Tutor."

Emmaline was stunned "Why would you do that?"

"Because I have seen your grades, and they are very very good. I can't allow someone with so much potential to just throw it away.

"All right, then I shall accept your offer." Emmaline said with a truly gracious smile.

Romana was sat in the Presidential offices deep in thought. With Bainbridge now in a cell he couldn't hurt her or Emmaline anymore. When she next looked up she saw Leela standing before her.

"I have being watching you, Romana." She said matter-of-factly.

"Oh?"

"I see the way you look at Narvin; it is not the way you look at the Doctor."

"What is your opinion of Narvin?," Romana asked

"I think he will not hurt you. However if he did he would feel the blade of my knife. I saw the way he was when you were injured he showed great concern."

There was a silence as if Leela was pondering "Why do you stay with the Doctor if it is Narvin you truly love?" she asked, sounding simply curious.

"I do love the Doctor." Romana stated, but her brain was whirring. She did love the Doctor didn't she? And yet she felt there was unfinished business between the Co-ordinator and her. She remembered the way he held her after Bainbridge had threatened her, the way he had kissed her so softly and his hands had being so gentle as he wiped her tears from her face. it had made her see a different side to him. Granted, sometimes she still thought he was an arrogant pig and still hated him, but she was seeing a much softer side to him recently.

"I sense a 'but' coming..." Leela prompted.

"I am not allowed the luxury of love and I can't go swanning around the universe while Gallifrey needs me. If I become President I have to say goodbye to that life." She said firmly. But then she remembered. "But it does not matter; the Doctor has left Gallifrey perhaps for good."

"Perhaps that is so. But you miss it don't you? That life?"

"I don't know... the Doctor has left me behind so many times."

Romanadvoratrelundar didn't know how it had even got to this point. She had waited years for the Doctor to return, her Doctor, but now Narvin seemed to consume her thoughts and her desires. She loved the way he said her name as it rolled off his tongue, the way he kissed her, the way he held her in his arms and just for a moment she could forget about everything else.

Leela's eyes widened and she gasped. "I see it in your eyes," she finally said. "You do love Co-ordinator Narvin!"

Romana shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "I feel something for him I admit, but the President of Gallifrey will not have time for love."

"Then you must make time." Leela insisted

"Leela, really. I think as President I will have more pressing matters than love."

Leela felt as if Romana was letting an opportunity for true love pass her by, but she let it drop. "So it is official... You are President again?" she asked.

"Acting President, but there doesn't appear to be any other candidates. It will just be a formality."

"I am glad." Leela replies."Now, about your love interest..."

Romana groaned.

"I am teasing!" Leela smirked.

it wasn't long after Leela had left that Co-ordinator Narvin arrived into the Presidential suite. It wasn't far for him to get to, seeing as the Presidency headquarters were located within the citadel housed in the large building known as the Palace. It was only minutes from the CIA office and even closer to his own private dwelling. From the outside it looked like a run-down building; there was a large white door which had a code entry system. Once inside, there was a stairway leading up to the Ten floors but most Time Lords never used the stairs, since there was also a lift.

There was usually one or two Guards guarding the complex day and night, and it was to one of these Guards that Narvin now approached.

"Captain Amos," he said, greeting the young guard man. "Official CIA business with the President. Oh, and this meeting is likely be for the whole afternoon, can you make sure we are not interrupted?"

"Yes of course Co-ordinator."

Co-ordinator Narvin stepped into the lift and pressed the button for the Presidency offices. It didn't take long to reach the fifth floor. He stepped out of the lift and found another large door. He walked straight through into the spacious office.

He had been to Romana's offices before, when she was President the last time. he knew this office and the rooms like the back of his hand so he was aware of the variety of Private rooms; the one which entertain guests, and her favourite room which was set out like a lobby, designed for a place to relax after hours. The room was spacious it had a large velvet sofa with a matching arm chair and a glowing fire in the corner. There was a door that separates her private office which leads to a hall way where her private quarters are which include three further levels with a bed room and bathroom on each level.

He walked through to her favourite room and there Romana was, looking so gorgeous in her presidential robe which fell down to her feet. She looked so beautiful to him, so radiant, so... Romana.

He walked over to her until they were both facing each other.

"Co-ordinator I wasn't aware we had-" Romana began, but she was cut of as he pulled her into his arms and kissed her. She returned the kiss, smiling.

He briefly let go, but didn't let Romana get too far away from him. "So, it's official," he said. "You are President again."

He pressed his lips against hers, wrapping himself around her as he pressed her against the wall. It wasn't long before he had her kissing him back as if she was desperate for him too. "Co-ordinator," she managed to gasp out between kisses, "I want- I need you" she whispered before kissing him again as if her life depended on it.

"Good, because you aren't going anywhere today." Narvin growled, before lifting her into his arms and carrying her to the sofa. She pulled him close to her and he toppled onto her, breathless. He ran his hands over her body.

"So Co-ordinator, are you saying we have the whole afternoon without any interruptions?" Romana queried in a playful voice.

"That is so my lady President. The head of the CIA requires the Lady President to meet with him on a matter of security policies and such. This meeting will be all afternoon and there will be no interruptions..." Narvin trailed off cheekily.

"So what are you going to do with me Co-ordinator for the whole afternoon?"

"I'm sure I can come up with something that would benefit us both", he whispered teasingly in her ear.

He ran his hands over her robe before slipping it off, and as she slid his robe off, he kissed her down her neck and down her shoulders before pressing his lips against hers.

"Does this mean I get my second chance with you then?" Narvin couldn't help but ask.

"I think it just might," Romana whispered as she rolled over to lie beside him, "but that doesn't mean I have forgotten when you betrayed me."

"I am sorry Romana..." he kissed her again and she melted into his arms, sighing contently as he held her close. Narvin had no intention of losing her again; his life was empty without her and he may have a career but Romanadvoratrelundar filled those empty spaces in his life, made him feel special and he loved her. No, love wasn't a strong enough word... he adored her.

"I think I am falling in love with you all over again," he said as he gently stroked her hair before planting a kiss on her forehead. "But I can't share you with the Doctor. I won't share you with anybody."

"He's gone" said Romana coldly at the Doctor's name. "He left, no note, no explanation. That's him all over."

"Then he is a fool to leave you. He does not deserve you. I love you." he said softly.

"I still hate you," she admitted, although she knew her voice didn't show it.

"No you don't, I know you love me too or you wouldn't be planning on inviting me to your bed tonight." Narvin grinned.

"Why would I be inviting you," smirked Romana.

"Because my President commands it..."

"Maybe," Romana said coyly. "If your President thinks you deserve it..." She kissed him again before resting her head on his chest. She had tried so hard to fight her feelings for him but she could not deny that there was something still there between them.

"And if I do not?" Narvin said, still playing along.

She kissed him again. "Then you'd better deserve it."

"Are you going tell me what Bainbridge said?" he asked softly as he wrapped his arms around Romana.

"Threats, that's all, but his threats are real. Just take the Academy; he intended to kill Gander's family who is next me, Emmaline?" A tear fell down her face as the panic set in.

He wiped her tears away with a kiss. "I won't let him hurt either of you; I live to protect my President and Gallifrey. You are Gallifrey and I won't let you and Emmaline be harmed." He vowed sincerely.

Romana felt safe and reassured by his words and knew Narvin would do all he could to protect them both.

The voice echoed inside Emmaline head; "There are rumours in the universe that something is coming, something worse than you can imagine and your child will be the destruction of Gallifrey... Gallifrey will fall; it is inevitable, and you will be the cause of it."

Emmaline's eyes shot open as she gasped. Her mind was full of terrible images, such a terrible future. She saw the corridors of the palace washed in blood, the dead bodies on the grounds of Gallifrey. She saw the effects of the free time virus running amok on Gallifrey and the words "free time" echoed in her mind.

"It was just a dream," she whispered to herself.

"It's no dream, Child " the voice which seemed to be in her head laughed, torturing her. Emmaline's whole body shook in fear.

"Who are you?" Emmaline whispered but there was nothing there. Whatever was there had gone.

"What is wrong with me?" she whispered fearfully. " My mind is filled with terrible images..."
