"Walk normally," he commanded. He slipped an arm around her shoulders. "Try anything and it will not just be your life you put at risk," he hissed quietly. They walked passed other Time Lords who had no idea what was going on. He was all smiles for them. Such a brilliant actor, thought Romana. He slipped the gun under her gown pressed against her bare back. "Walk," he growled.

Romana could hardly breath, as the memories started playing back in her mind of been held at gun point before. She felt him push her forward. Her legs felt like jelly and it was a struggle to walk.

Finally they came to the darkened dungeons with it's cobblestone walls and moss growing from each crevice. Chains lay on the walls, with hammered metal shackles on the floor.

Romana shuddered. As she felt the faint scent of death... and suffering. These dungeons weren't used anymore and hadn't been for decades not since the dark days of Rassilion

He stood behind her, twisting her hands behind her back as he tied them with strong rope.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked him softly. She looked up with soft confused eyes.

"Don't look at me like that," he warned.

He took out the laser gun pointing it into her back. "Move, I have no time for your questions."

Entering the dungeon he pushed Romana inside. The room was dark and eerie; the air around her was cold. Dry blood formed the walls, the musty dust made her feel nausea.

"See she is well. I thought you would like to see that I always keep my promises." He smiled at the real Braxiatel.

"Now, are you going to give me what I want," he asked," or do I have to hurt her?" He grabbed hold of her hair, pulling her head backwards as she cried out.

"Stop it!" Braxiatel pleaded. "This is between you and me; let Romana go."

"You forgot to say please," he said, smiling. "I can't let her go, not when I want her much as I do. See I had a dream last night and you were there offering her to me, so you see I can't let her go. It's destiny."

He turned to Romana. "Do you know what he thinks about you?" snarled the fake Braxiatel.

He turned to look at Braxiatel. "I have most of your memories, your thoughts and those dreams. Do you know those dreams you have, Braxiatel?" he asked, looking at him.

"Yeah, well they are my dreams, its none of your business. Is that all you have, a couple of dreams to hold over me?"

"Lusting after Romanadvoratrelundar, when she was little more than a child." He tutted. "No wonder you were angry when the Doctor took her out of your guidance, your control."

Romana tried to struggle from his grip. "Well, don't you want to see him." He pushed her towards him, causing her to fall on the floor beside him.

Her eyes widened with fear and confusion. She wanted to touch him, to feel it was him but her hands were tied behind her back and his were pinned against the wall. He wanted to hold her. She moved closer, resting her head against his shoulder. "I'm sorry," she whispered, kissing him all over his face, hoping to feel some familiarity with him. It was there. It was him and she gulped back the tears before he managed to place a gentle kiss on her lips.

Romana felt the other Braxiatel pull her away as she kicked and struggled against him but he restrained her holding her tightly.

"Please, just let her go." He struggled with the chains that kept digging into his arms, keeping him chained to the wall.

"No!" she cried out. "Don't give in to him. It doesn't matter what happens to me." She felt his hand cover her mouth tightly and she bit down on his hand as he let out a cry of pain.

"You animal! You are no better than the savage we allowed on Gallifrey."

"That savage is my friend and is not a coward like you," she hissed at the fake Braxiatel

"Romana, please. I know what I am doing. You are wrong. It matters a great deal," the real Braxiatel pleaded with her. This wasn't her fight, it was his and he could not allow her to risk her safety or the baby's.

"Leave her alone," Braxiatel gasped. "She is pregnant," he growled.

"Her baby is no of concern to me. Now what are they worth to you? How much do you love her? Will you give up your lives for her so that brat she is carrying lives?"

"Always," he said looking at the woman he loved. "Romana means a lot to me."

The fake Brax walked over to her. "Imagine having my baby growing inside you."

She spat at him. "I won't let you touch me, not in a million years."

"And him; would you let him have his hands on you?"

"That is none of your business."

He wrapped his arms around Romana's neck kissing the back of it. She stood frozen to the spot, her legs felt like jelly and her whole body was trembling, not the usual strong Time Lady Braxiatel remembered her for. What had he done to her to get her in that state or had something else happened to her that he did not know about?

"Please let him go," she begged, trying desperately to be strong again. She had dealt with worse, but she felt inside her how dangerous this version of the Time Lord she loved really was.

"Do you love him?" he asked. "Look at him. Tell him you do not love him and tell me it's me you love."

"Please don't do this, you are sick you need help."

"Be quiet I don't need help, what I need is you. " He pulled her close to him pressing her against his chest as she started to cry quietly against him.

"You see what you have done, you did this to her."

Braxiatel watched, helpless, seeing her slowly fall apart. It hurt his hearts to see that level of pain in her, as he tried to free himself but the heavy chains kept him restrained to the wall.

"Well it is enough the lengths I will go to. I must admit she is something beautiful beyond belief. Quite feisty at times. Oh I can't wait until we have a child together. It's just a shame I have to wait. I never thought your little woman had it in her. Oh wait she's not yours is she; not any more. She has Narvin now."

He laughed. "I really should fill you in on what you have obviously missed, since spending your life down here dozing."

Braxiatel remained silent. His priority had to be Romana and the baby's safety, nothing else mattered. He would happily give up the remainder of his lives so she could live.

"Don't you want to know what me and Romana will be doing tonight?" he asked in a chilling voice. "Oh you are no fun today." He replied after Braxiatel stayed quiet. "I am actually going to sleep with her, imagine me tonight touching every part of her body."

This got the real Braxiatel's attention. "If you hurt her I will kill you!" His voice rose in utter anger.

Romana struggled furiously with the ropes that were held into place tightly but the more she struggled the tighter they dug in. She started to feel hot and dehydrated.

"Stop struggling, they are way too tight for someone as feeble as you. Just relax," he said softly. "Listen to my voice." His voice started reaching inside her. It was comforting. She could not resist it but at the last moment she pushed with all she had, ejecting him from her head.

"I am not feeble. I am President of Gallifrey," she hissed angrily. "I demand you release him immediately!"

"Well that will have to be something that will need to be addressed soon," he said gently to her as she pulled away from him.

He turned to Braxiatel. "Hurt her, I haven't even started yet." He strode over to Romana wrapping his arms tightly around her neck as she gasped for breath and struggled to breath before she slammed her head against his and he shoved her away, pushing her to the ground.

"Now you are going to regret that," he hissed angrily at Romana, looming over her.

"Please don't hurt my baby." The first blow was to her face and he was about to send another crushing blow before Braxiatel cried out. She bit her lip, she wouldn't cry and give him the satisfactory of hurting her. She felt the blood dripping down her face into her mouth.

"No! Don't," Braxiatel pleaded.

Braxiatel looked horrified, realising how unstable this version of him really was and now he was threatening to harm the woman he was crazy about. She was laying on the ground, so still, the blood trickling down her face.

"She will be mine and not yours. Doesn't that burn inside you? Do you remember how she tastes? Those perfect lips that taste like freshly picked strawberries and her hair, that beautiful soft red hair of hers. I already had her in my arms earlier and she fitted perfectly like she belonged there. "

He stroked her face and she flinched at his touch.

The real Braxiatel noticed which concerned him. She was not just flinching from him, she was terrified of him, but she would not look at him. She kept looking down at the floor, the wall, the door, and he could hear her breathing harder than he thought possible. He tried to catch her eye but she was avoiding looking towards him, which pained him. Finally, after a long moment, she looked at him for just a second but it was enough for him to see the pain in her eyes before she blacked out.

"So what's it going to be? Do I really have to inflict a punishment on her or will you give me what I want?

"You wouldn't hurt her, I love her which means you do too."

"Love, what would you know about love? If you loved her you would have married her by now. Oh wait, you cant because you are here, and she is mine. You hear that; Romanadvoratrelundar belongs to me. She is not as strong as you think and I will make her so weak that she has no choice but to accept her fate."

"Leave her alone, this is between me and you. Romana has nothing to do with this."

"No!" he roared in madness. "This is my turn. Mine! You had your chance, now it's my chance to get what I want, what I deserve." With that he picked up the unconscious Time Lady and walked out, slamming the metal door loudly. He heard him mocking him further from the door. "Well enjoy your dreams of Romana, that's all they will ever be whilst I get the real thing."

Romana found herself on a soft bed, a pale blue ceiling above her which she knew to be Braxiatel's chambers and his bed as she tried to remember how she got there.

Her arms were chained to the bed. He was cleaning her face up that felt like someone had hit her really hard. She whimpered slightly, then she felt him release her.

"Braxiatel," she mumbled as she started to remember what happened.

The other Braxiatel gently touched her face.

"Where's Braxiatel, what did you do with him?" she pressed him for an answer.

"He's safe for now, but whether he remains safe is ultimately up to you."

"What do you want?" she spat.

"I want you to be my wife. Just think, I could give you everything you ever wanted." He traced his fingers across her delicate pink lips that looked so welcoming that he wanted to kiss them, to taste her lips on his. He wanted her to become his Romana and he was determined she would.

"You cant be serious! I would rather die than let you have your grubby hands over me."

"Oh indeed. I have never been more serious. It's going to happen. You and me, forever."

"Don't you dare touch me. I would not lower myself to let you touch me."

He laughed mockingly at her. "After your regeneration you only spent one night with him. After that you were in my bed with me, and you never even noticed. Remember all those times we made love and you cried out my name?"

"You are sick! You sick, sick, power mad, disgusting old man." She launched a fist at him but he grabbed her arm, holding it firmly.

"When we are married you will want nothing more for me to touch you. I am going to make you so desperate to have me."

"If I marry you," Romana started to ask, as if she was seriously considering it.

"You will have your freedom, but you will be mine and everything you have will be mine."

"I don't want," she managed to say in-between him kissing her, feeling too weak to push him away. Feeling his weight on top of her.

This was not her Braxiatel. She could not let this happen. A plan formed in her head.

"You are too weak to fight it right now," he said, planting a tender kiss on her lips. "Just let it happen," he whispered. "You know you want me just as much as I want you." He kissed her neck softly, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her in closer.

She wrapped her arms around his waist, reaching for the keys as she distracted him with her kisses. Knowing it was now or never, she lifted her knee and slammed it against him as hard as she could muster.

He let out a jolt of pain and rolled off her. He writhed in agony as she staggered out of his chambers, swaying on her feet before he managed to stagger to his feet and head after her, but there was no sign of her.

Braxiatel headed for the Presidential office hoping to find her there.

Emmaline stood there waiting for him.

"Where's Romana?" she casually asked. "I had expected her to be here, seems she is too busy for me"

"Romana has gone away." He pulled Emmaline into his arms and kissed her.

"No, "said Emmaline, shaking her head. "This, you, it isn't what I want."

Braxiatel looked shocked for a long moment. He had been having such a lovely time manipulating both Romana and Emmaline, getting what he wanted, that when Emmaline rejected him it was almost like she had slapped him across the face.

"Emmaline, what's going on?"

"I once thought I knew you, but you have many faces and none of them speak the truth."

"Emmaline, please whatever you think I did, it was for you."

"No, you did it for yourself and I will listen to no more of your lies or half truths."

"You have to listen to me, listen to my voice."

"Oh don't even think of trying that on me."

"Emmaline, please."

"I don't want to hear it. I have wasted too much time on you and I will waste no more."

"I did it for you," he whispered."Tell me what's going on, Emmaline."

"No!" she replied defiantly.

"Please," he pleaded . "You know we belong together."

"You want to really know what's going on in my head? I mean seriously."

Braxiatel waited for her to tell him as she faced him.

"Terror, absolute terror. I have spent all my life on Gallifrey fighting the monsters; Rassilion, Bainbridge, the Pandora creature and now you! You are turning into the biggest monster of them all. You are all I despise of Gallifrey. You are no better than Bainbridge."

"I am nothing like him."

"You manipulated my whole Time line over and over again, rewrote some of my history. You planned to have Damon killed... I know about Romana, and no doubt you were planning on having my Dad killed." A tear slipped down her cheek. "I trusted you. I loved you and you betrayed me. I left Damon because of you and I stupidly thought you loved me too."

"What about Romana?" he asked, his voice slightly shook.

"What have you done to Romana?" Awen asked, standing in the door way.

"I don't know what you are talking about. I haven't done anything to Romana, she obviously had to get away from you, but can you really blame-"

Suddenly Awen grabbed him twisting his arms round his back knocking his head against the desk. "Silence, liar of Gallifrey. Tell me unless you want these to be your last words. You really do not want to test me. Rassilion taught me how to fight so you really don't want to make an enemy out of me. I am a warrior."

"She was in my chambers but she ran away. I didn't hurt her, I didn't. Do not hurt me," he whimpered.

"Emmaline, check on Romana. Now!" she bellowed. She waited until Emmaline had left the room, the door shutting behind her.

"Hurt you," said Awen. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to bloody kill you," hissed Awen. "Now what shall I tell them when your body is found. 'I'm so sorry, high council, but I didn't know my own strength', or should I say 'I'm sorry but my gun went off, it was an accident'? I'm sure they would believe me, a sweet innocent girl, don't you think?"

Her tone changed as she hit his head against the desk with every sentence. "Now I have questions and you're going to answer them. Lock that door and we will get started." She briefly let go of him holding the gun on him. "Don't try anything or I will kill you."

He had no doubt that she would follow through on her threats.

Romana breathed heavily as she ran through the lower level of the Dungeons. She ran through the darkened corridors.

I don't like it, she thought to herself. It reminded her of her time in the Dalek's hands, walking through the dark and cold passageways as the Daleks screeched at her.

The hallways leading to the dungeons were dark, dingy and dripping with unseen dangers. Unstable flooring formed the dungeons that didn't seem to have an end and something sticky formed on the walls which she never wanted to touch.

She was always afraid of the dark now. If only Braxiatel or the Doctor was there now to scare away the monsters that she felt were lurking around the corners waiting to grab her.

It was so hard to run being as pregnant as she was. Finally she reached the upper level of the Dungeons. She managed to pry the door open but she felt it had taken what little strength she had left and she was so very tired.

Braxiatel had to be alive, she could not stand to think of him as being dead. She needed him, she loved him. Oh she loved the old stupid fool and she hated to admit it, but without Brax what did she really have? He was everything to her. The father of her baby.

She let out a deep breath as a wave of pain hit her. Even as she cried out she ignored the pain, managing to stagger into the room before she collapsed on the ground in agony.

It was too soon. She couldn't have her baby yet. She couldn't.

She saw Braxiatel slumbered against the wall. She wanted to just close her eyes and for this pain to go away, but she could not. She was President of Gallifrey and she would crawl over there if she needed to no matter how long it took. It felt like spans but eventually she got to him.

"Brax." She shook him. "Talk to me, don't you dare die in here" She slapped him across the face as his eyes flipped open.

"Romana," he breathed heavily, not knowing if this was a dream but he had certainly been slapped and it felt like one of her slaps.

After that she shut her eyes and everything went black and she knew no more.

Romana heard muffled whispers as she was coming around and was aware of a soft mattress and lots of lights.

"The baby is fine. Romana needs rest and lots of it for several weeks."

Romana's eyes started to open. "Don't hurt my baby," she started to mumble. She felt a warm hand in hers and heard a calming voice. "Braxiatel," she mumbled, calling his name out. Then it was his voice that she could hear.

"I am right here." He knew it was important to keep her calm. She had been unconscious for a week, and he had stayed by her side, hardly leaving her.

He looked older than she remembered.

"Braxiatel, you are-" She gently touched his face. "Its really you," she whispered as the tears fell down her face. "Braxiatel," she mumbled as she traced her fingers against his face. "I never thought I would see you again. I am so sorry. I didn't know." She squeezed her eyes shut trying to control her emotions.

"You should never have put yourself or the baby at risk like that. You had stopped breathing, I thought-" His voice broke.

He had never been so afraid seeing Romana laying there. Both her hearts had stopped and she had not been breathing. He promised he would take care of her. He would tell her the truth if she pulled through, that he still loved her. But now he had heard she was to marry Narvin and to him that meant he had already lost her.

"Braxiatel," said Romana, shocked to see him cry. She had never once seen him cry.

"Romana," he took her hand as he continued,"is the baby mine?"
