Romana Opened her eyes, the unfamiliarity of her surroundings lingered in her mind. She was in a bed, mellow yellow blankets covering her as the bed rails were up as if they were there to keep her there. She tried to remember how she got here. She knew it was a room in the medical station. Monitors were connected to her and her head hurt as the memories of last few days played in her head.

Narvin told her he had been cheating on her for the past year and yet he wanted her to forgive him, but she never would. She never wanted to see his stupid face or hear his annoying voice ever again.

Once she loved him, but now she despised him the mere thought of him now made her want to tear his eyes out to make him suffer like she was now. Had she really known him at all, or was this his plan to push her from the Presidency?

She had a lot to look out for on Gallifrey and not just Narvin, she was tired of forgiving him; all the times he had stuffed up. She had always told herself she shouldn't and now she was dealing with the consequences of her mistakes.

Braxiatel entered the medical station to be greeted by what appeared to be a shouting match.

"I am Co-ordinator Narvin of the CIA, now let me though."

"What is going on?" said Braxiatel's gruff voice eying Narvin with contempt.

"I have to see Romana. I have to explain."

"Explain what? That you are a cheating rat?" He paused looking at the Co-ordinator wanting nothing more than to rip him apart." I am not letting you anywhere near her. She is serious sick and the last thing she needs is more stress."

"Think you can win her hearts?" Narvin snapped. Do you even know what she thinks of you.

Brax sighed. Oh I can assure you right now that she thinks more highly of me than she does with you."

"Pity, thats all she feels for you. You lust after her like a old dirty man, ever since she was your student and she not once looked at you. How does it feel that you can never have her?"

"Are you so deluded Narvin, that you can not see what you have put her through? How much you have hurt her. You lost something special, she won't forgive you... unlucky for you she has a temper and a very long memory. Now Co-ordinator leave or I will fetch security and they would not be as patient as I am right now."

He waited until Narvin left stomping away, before turning to the young medic.

"How is she?," he asked enquiring about Romana.

"Awake, being her normal stubborn self."

Braxiatel grinned." Some things never change."

"She could be okay to leave in a few days, so long as her vital signs stay normal, no excitement or stress."

Braxiatel frowned. "Can't you keep her here longer."

"Chancellor Braxiatel," said the young medic giving him a questioning look.

"I think most of Gallifrey knows as soon as you discharge her, she will be out of that door and behind her desk again."

"That would be inadvisable, she needs to take care of herself. She was lucky this time, next time she could lose one or both her babies and risk her own life. We have looked at her scans, Romana has two separate pregnancy's inside her."

"That's impossible," Brax stuttered, but then he remembered the scan saying both him and the Doctor were the father.

"Are the twins, from the same pregnancy,?Braxiatel asked.

"It's impossible for us to tell at this stage , it's possible she may be carrying more than two babies, but we just don't know, which is why its important to keep a much closer eye on her and the babies. You should brace yourself, though, its very rare for this to happen, its never happened on Gallifrey. I have heard it happening before, but usually only one pregnancy survives."

Braxiatel walked through to the part where Romana was. Opening the door to her room he was greeted by the colourful walls, unlike the rest of the medical station which had boring white walls.

As soon as she saw him her eyes lit up. "Braxiatel, you came."

"I promised, didn't I?" He smiled softly at her before leaning over and placing a tender kiss on her forehead.

"Please Brax, get me out of here. I will do anything." She grabbed his hand refusing to let go. She looked so helpless, so sad. He felt such an rush of love for her.

Braxiatel loved Romana with everything he had. Had he believed Romana loved him, he would of married her right there and then. He would of confessed his feelings of love for her, admitted that it had always being her every time.

Nothing would of stopped him announcing it to all the Time Lords; even their tuts, frowns, and mutters would not of changed the way he felt.

They was that beautiful smile of hers, a smile that lit up any darkened room on Gallifrey, and bringing light into his darkened life.

Then there was her laugh, a sweet joyful laugh, that made even him smile, because if she was happy then so was he. All he wanted was Romana's happiness, but she was not happy and had not being happy for a very long time.

It had alarmed him, when he realised he had created a world for himself that he could not live in, unless she was in it and was with him. She was his first thought every morning and every night.

He knew he should say those three small words, and yet he could not, he was a coward and he knew it.

He had battled many dangerous creatures in his life and yet, he could not tell her, he loved her. It was driving him mad, he could not sleep because all he wanted was her and their children, for them to be a family.

"Braxiatel," said Romana's sweet voice waiting for him to reply.

He knew this was one time; he had to be firm, to put his foot down for the sake of her health and the babies survival. Losing any of them was not an option.

No doubt she would fight him, but if she carried on the way she had, she would eventually kill herself.

"No, Romana, you are very Ill right now and you need rest." Now please," he said gently touching her face.

Romana scowled at him, as he knew she would, but then nothing. He had expected words and lots of them, maybe even her telling him she was President of Gallifrey, but for once she did not fight him.

"Then at least help me sit."

He gently propped her up with the soft fluffy pillows that he brought in especially for her.

"He cheated on me Braxiatel." the words fell from her lips as her bottom lip started to tremble, but she refused to cry over her co-ordinator.

Braxiatel frowned "with Awen?" he asked. He had heard the rumours, he refused to believe Narvin would be that stupid not only to cheat on Romana, but with Awen, surely Narvin would not be that silly.

"Awen," Romana whispered as she came to realise the terrible truth. Narvin and Awen together, she felt nausea come upon her, feeling sick to her stomach.

Braxiatel bit his lip. "Maybe I got it wrong, they was a rumour that she was just one of many."

"You knew and did not tell me." she tried to control her emotions once more.

"I was hoping it was not true. You were just so sick Romana. I was so afraid for your life, that when you collapsed I was determined I would do everything in my power to make you well again. I care so much for you and the babies." Now it had being his turn to try to not let his emotions control him.

"You don't have to be strong all the time and pretend to be someone you are not. The way you have been acting, it's not you Romana, can't you see that?"

He came closer to her and she buried herself against his chest, she started to tremble and then the tears would not stop as she let it all out as he held her tightly against his chest. "shhh he whispered. "it's allright I will make it all okay," he knew it was a promise he could not keep, but he wanted to take away all the pain.

Finally she looked up at him.

"Braxiatel," she said taking his hand in hers once more, as the tears continued to fall heavily down her face.

"Don't cry, my Lady." it broke his hearts to see it. "You deserve so much better. Do not be too harsh on Awen. She wanted you and the Doctor to be together I believe, I am just a very poor second choice."

"I don't blame her, she's a bit mixed up. I know who I should be blaming."

She paused for a long moment. "Wait! You and me?"

"She thought we should be together, that we belonged together."

"Oh Brax, I am so sorry," she blushed furiously.

He laughed. "Don't worry. I will explain," unless," he started to say.

"Unless what?" Romana hearts felt there were doing a triple jump in her chest. Wanting him to desprately say the words.

"Nothing my Lady," it was a foolish idea, get some rest I will see you tomorrow."

She watched him leave, as she sighed.

"Flowers," said Braxiatel. "You shouldn't have ," as Awen slammed them onto the desk. The sudden smell of them hit the office.

"Now if I am not mistaken, they smell like cherry blossom," they are Romana's favourite flowers.

"They are for Romana, thought they might cheer her up. she's really down at the moment in the medical station."

"Yeah, I noticed. I wish I could cheer her up, the pregnancy is getting her down."

"You should get her something," Awen suggested.

Braxiatel's glanced at her. "How do you mean?" He was not sure he wanted to take any kind of advice from a girl who had simply hurt Romana by her actions no matter how good her motives had appeared to be.

No they were not good motives, not really. Awen was just misguided. She reminded him of herself but unlike Awen he had a life times experience of been deciteful to get what he wanted.

"Are all Time Lords this hopeless, when it comes to Time Ladies," Awen asked. "She needs to feel she's special to someone, that's someone out there still thinks she's beautiful."

"Oh," said Braxiatel. "So; flowers, chocolates, that kind of thing?"

Awen shook her head

"No, something special do I have to spell it out."

Braxiatel looked at her.

"Apparently so," muttered Awen. "Something special, take her somewhere special, make her feel she is beautiful, or buy her something expensive. Make her feel she's the most important thing to you."

"Such as?"

Awen sighed. "Do I really have to explain?"

"Diamonds, gold, something pretty like a necklace that you have bought specially for her, or a ring."

"A ring?"

"She's the mother of your child. I assume some kind of feelings for her, like love."

"Love, don't be absurd." he shifted in his chair uncomfortable.

"Don't lie I have seen the way she looks at you, the way you look at her."

"You must be mistaken. I haven't been doing anything like that."

Awen sighed. "I know when someone likes someone and you two definite like each other."

It was many hours later he decided to go see her with the gift he had chosen for her. He was sure she would like it. He walked into the medical station. "Romana," he said softly, she stirred opening her eyes.

"How are you feeling?"

"Better if you'd get me out of here."

"You are still very-"

"I'm fine."

"I wanted to give you this," he handed her a small box with Gallifrean writing on the box.

She took it. inside was the most beautiful necklace she ever saw with brilliant diamonds , ruby's and emeralds.

"it's beautiful," she whispered, as a tear fell down her face; he gentle wiped it away with his thumb.

He had never bought a gift for any Time lady, or woman before but he had not expected her to cry over it

Here let me, helping her to sit up, he propped her up as he gentle put the necklace on her. She shivered at his touch, his hands were so gentle, so soft.

"I love it," she took his hand in hers. "I didn't mean to cry," she sniffled. "I cant remember last time someone bought me something so beautiful."

"Not even all the diamonds in the world could compare to how beautiful you are," he said summing up the courage to express his feelings for her.

"Now for the second thing. I have for you."

"Is it a ticket out of here?" she asked in a playful tone.

"Actually it is. You will stay at my chambers and you will rest. You will not step foot in the Presidential office's or even attempt to do any kind of work."

Romana looked at him horrified. Was he insane? Oh Rassilion her oldest and dearest friend had totally gone mad. She opened her mouth to protest.

"Romana, "he said in a stern tone.

"You were being serious?" she asked.

"When it comes to the health of you and the babies I will always be serious."

"Allright you win. Agreed," she sighed in defeat. He had won and she knew it.

He helped her up from the bed letting go of her for a brief moment, but instantly she started to fall before Braxiatel caught her wrapping his arms around her waist to support her, but before he could stop himself he gently pressed his lips against hers and was kissing her, before he pulled back.

"My Lady, forgive me." Romana caught his wrists determined not let him run away again. But voices were heard entering the medical station. She let go of him, the moment lost once again.
