Donna woke up, rubbing her eyes. She felt different…more alert. She could feel the blood pumping in her veins and her heart was beating rapidly. She put her hand to her chest, feeling the heart pound under her hand. She then rested her other hand on the opposite side of her chest, feeling the second heart.

She had two hearts.

"No way," she said out loud. "Oh, definitely not human."

The first thing she was going to do was give that spaceman a piece of her mind. What gave him the right to disregard her feelings? She was Donna Noble and she was not going to take it lying down.

Swinging her legs over the bed, the memories of what she had forgotten seemed to resurface, but they came too fast, causing her head to spin, and before she knew it she was falling to the ground.

Bernice popped her head around the door to where Braxiatel and the Doctor were talking. "Oh, I didn't know you had guests," she looked at the Doctor. "Professor Bernice Summerfield," she said offering her hand.

The Doctor beamed. "Benny, good to see you." He patted her back affectionately.

"Doctor?"

"I thought you were familiar." The Doctor and Bernice were so caught up with each other that they didn't notice Brax had slipped out of the room the door shutting quietly.

The Doctor looked around noticing Brax had left the room. "How is he really?" the Doctor asked, concerned for his brother.

Benny sighed. "At first he ignored Aleena, left her to cry and wouldn't accept her; but gradually he started to care for her. It's still very hard for him; he keeps her with him most days. I think she is helping him heal, but he keeps a lot in. You know Brax."

"They have each other."

Bernice nodded.

"Did you ever meet Romana?"

"Once, enough to know he was completely crazy about her. When he turned up on the collection with the baby, he wouldn't talk about what happened. Aleena was only weeks old, so tiny. Kept us busy, that one did. Eventually, he told us his planet was gone, to war. Aleena is a Time Lady, then?"

"Not really, but she is Gallifrean. She would have had to study in the Academy and stare into the untempered schism. Both are gone, now."

"She is very advanced Doctor; she's only three months old and already trying to form words. She points at stuff and tries to sit up. She seems to remember faces. Is that normal?"

The Doctor was distracted by Aleena crying and didn't answer. He gently reached out as she gripped his fingers tightly, both smiling. He then proceeded to pick her up and she sat happily on his lap, fascinated with the shiny buttons on his jacket

"I think it's time for her feed," Bernice said and handed him her bottle. Aleena took the bottle eagerly before pushing it away; he rubbed her back affectionately.

"If only your mother could be here with you. She was so beautiful," said the Doctor, sighing. She looked at him as if she was listening. "She was our President and she was wonderful. Romana, she was called. She may be gone, but she is always here watching over you so you need to be strong and brave for your daddy." He kissed the top of her head. He felt such love for this baby. It was all they had left of Romana her gift to them.

Brax couldn't live like this. He had fooled his friends and his staff, even the Doctor. He couldn't live without Romana, the pain was like a dagger to his hearts. He would sleep and join Romana in death and without a moment of thought took some aspirin within moments he fell.

His body immediately wrecked in terrible pain, the glass he was holding shattered, falling to the floor.

"Brax," said a sweet voice, calling to him. "My Braxiatel." she was staring down at him her beautiful piercing blue eyes, looking at him with love. Her blonde hair fell down her shoulders and she wore a white lace presidential grown adorned in silver and gold.

"Romana," he mumbled not knowing if this was real. His slender fingers touched her face.

"It's not time for you to be with me. Our daughter needs you. She can't lose both of us. You promised you'd take care of her. She's still so precious. Please, Brax," she whispered. As Brax began to lose consciousness, Romana placed a gentle kiss on his lips.

Donna was slowly recovering, but it still hurt to think. It was almost like she had two sets of memories—the human memories and then the Time Lord memories—but it was hurting less now. The fog in her mind was starting to become clearer.

As she slowly made her way through the narrow corridors displaying many artefacts and paintings, one in particular caught her attention. It had a brilliant marmalade sky and a beautiful crystal glass dome, she knew it was Gallifrey although she had never been there. Something in her subconscious told her.

Finally, Donna reached Braxiatel's office, wondering if she should even knock but before she had chance, the door spun open and there stood the Doctor.

"Donna," he stuttered, before he was filled with horror; what had Braxiatel done this time?

"You got some explaining to do spaceman? She raised her hand slapping him across the face. "What gave you the right to take the best memories of my life away from me, huh?"

She angrily pushed past him.

The Doctor knew this was bad. He could not allow her to remember, it wouldn't be long before her mind started to burn and she would die. No, he would not allow it to happen. He quickly ran after her. "Donna!" he shouted as she wandered into a study room.

She leaned against the door, closing her eyes. All the memories were rushing back to her now, and her head was hurting terribly. She sighed, slipping her eyes open.

There Braxiatel lay on the ground, still and not moving.
