it had become common knowledge on Gallifrey of an engagement between the Lady President and the Lord Chancellor.

Narvin had been shocked to say the least. Neither of them seemed the marrying type. He wouldn't normally care, but this was Romana the most beautiful Time Lady he had ever set eyes on. Her beauty sang to him throughout the lonely nights and in his dreams but now she was going to belong to someone else. Someone who clearly did not deserve her.

The engagement had grieved him, to know he had lost her, but to be honest he never really had her to start with. He cursed himself for been so stupid. The President was gorgeous, young and just amazing. She could have any one she wanted so why choose him why would she even look at him?

Romana despised him, but in actual fact they had despised one another so long ago, but Narvin wanted her he could not even think straight because of his desire for her, somehow she had got inside his head making him not able to think of anything but her wondering what it would be like to kiss her, what her kisses tasted like and hating the mere thought of Braxiatel having that pleasure every day.

Narvin held out his hand.

"You offering me something," Braxiatel asked.

"Only my congratulations I know we have rarely seen eye to eye but I do wish for you and Romana to be happy."

"Thank you," Braxiatel replied. "I know it must be hard-"

"Not really," Narvin lied. The truth was it was killing him, the pain felt like it was ripping through his entire body. "Me and Romana were never together."

"But you wanted to be," the inner voice reminded him. He could remember when it started. It was during the Pandora civil war he had become fiercely protective of her, and when he had the chance to be finally free of Romana for good he refused to take it.

"Maybe you are thinking you can finally be rid of Romana," one of the Time Lords had pointed out. That comment made him furious and he snapped. "Stop telling me what I am thinking and let me save my President!"

She was his president and he loved her. He realised that in the medical station as she lay there sick suffering from exhaustion, she looked like a corpse but he stayed by her side as she drifted in and out of consciousness earning himself the title of being Romana's man. He could just imagine Romana's face hearing that, she would have made it clear he was not her man that she did not need any man.

"If it makes you feel any better, the marriage is simply a marriage of convenience for us both; me and Romana have discussed the matter."

Narvin looked shocked for a long moment as his head spun. How could anyone arrange an convenience marriage with Romana. He would rip out one of his own hearts if he could be with Romana.

He realised it now he was in love with her. He had spent decades despising her wanting her to be impeached, giving her grief every day, but now he loved her. He loved that beautiful smile and that adorable laugh even her moods, he loved the fact she cared that's what made him want her to stay as his President.

Finally he spoke. "Are you serious?"

"Indeed,"

"Are you even in love with her?" Narvin asked

Brax scoffed "Love? Don't be absurd, she is important to me," love doesn't come into it.

"You don't know what you truly have. Most Time Lords would do anything to be with Romana. She is someone quite remarkable, young, beautiful and intelligent."

"You make it sound like you are in love with her. " Braxiatel pointed out.

Narvin blushed, going bright red as a beetroot as he stuttered his words. "Of course not," he mumbled.

Narvin had come to the conclusion it was true. He loved his President and he wanted to be the one that Romana married, the one she felt something for not some marriage of convenience.

Narvin walked into the Presidential office. Romana was sat at her desk.

"What is it Co-ordinator?" Romana looked up from the desk an air of surprise in her eyes that he had just turned up.

"Don't marry him," he blurted out.

"Braxiatel and me-" she started to say.

"Would be a big mistake he does not love you and I suspect you don't really love him."

"Marriage is never about love you and I both know that."

He ignored her comment. He knew most Time Lords rarely married for love. It was all about strengthening the houses and yet Narvin wanted to marry for love.

"I haven't forgotten what took place or what nearly took place between us," Narvin said remembering once they had almost kissed. Her lips were on his, but they had been interrupted.

Romana frowned. "I am marrying Braxiatel. Whatever that happened in the past is not important." She sighed heavily her words had felt like daggers but she had tried to be gentle but she had appeared to be unkind as she saw the sorrow in Narvin's eyes.

Narvin took her hand pulling her up until they were both facing each other Romana's hearts were racing as she tried to not look at Narvin.

"Tell me you feel nothing for me," look at me and tell me."

Romana looked down at the polished floor trying to avoid his eyes. No she couldn't look into those eyes and lie to him. Finally looking up at him.

Before she could say anything He kissed her lips tenderly, almost dryly then stared at her for a moment. Her eyes met his expectantly, before she curled her hand around his neck and pulled him in closer.

This felt wrong but so right at the same time how could she marry someone she did not love, or someone who did not love her, and Narvin was offering her a life full of love but could she really be involved with someone who worked for the CIA.

All she knew was she had to choose she did not want to be lonely anymore and for years she had been. Narvin was offering a chance to step out of that lonely life and be with him.

What should I do? She asked herself.
