SOUL TWINS YEAR 1
Valentines Day means many things to the staff and students at Hogwarts, for Neville it meant a day with Luna, for professor McGonagall it meant a day of keeping an eye on the more….active students. Professor Slughorn enjoys the day; he wears scarlet robes and teaches the students how to make love potions.
This year Valentines Day meant something different to the Weasleys and Potters. Because today was the day that they’ll provoke professor corner into the final breakdown. Over the few months many students have used variety of pranks on the defence teacher, and those days always ended the same professor corner in the hospital wing claiming that no one likes her and she should quit.
It took awhile to agree on doing this, mostly because the girls thought it was a bit too cruel. But in the end it was now or never. The triplets were making life hell; every team didn’t show up to their match against Ravenclaw (due to the close call when Gryffindor almost won the first match, professor corner put each team in detention).
Today wasn’t a prank it was a slanging campaign. They were going to rub it in that Harry and Ginny are happy together. Cruel but necessary. It started during breakfast. Lily stood up while everyone was eating, she started to walk up to the staff table, she continued till she reaches professor Longbottom.
“Professor?” she asked
“Yes Lily how can I help you?” Neville asked as he took a sip of his pumpkin juice.
“Mum want’s to know if you’ll be able to join her and dad for valentine’s dinner” she said calmly
“Oh, I was under the impression that Harry was taking Ginny out for a romantic night out” Neville said raising an eyebrow.
“Yes but tomorrow they’re having a dinner party to celebrate their love, it’s their anniversary today” Lily said
At the corner of her eye, she saw professor corner looking at her breakfast. Her hair covering her face.
During defence James, Arthur and Alice started a loud conversation.
“Oh James tell me about your parents wedding, it’s the most romantic thing I ever heard” Alice swooned
“Well Ally dear, it was Valentines Day, dad said he thought it was right to marry a beautiful girl on a romantic day.” James said grinning
“Everyone who was important to auntie Gin and Uncle Harry was there” Arthur added.
“Uncle Charlie said out of all the Weasley brides mum was the loveliest, she wore a pure white muggle gown with white lilies in her hair in the memory of Grandma Lily” James went on
Professor corner broke the piece of chalk she was holding.
“Dad said Uncle Harry couldn’t keep his eyes off her” Arthur said
“Professor McGonagall herself performed the ceremony, she cried halfway through. I imagine that she thought they were the most beautiful couple in the entire world” James said
“ENOUGH! OPEN YOUR BOOKS AT PAGE 345 AND READ QUIETLY” professor corner shouted.
“but professor, we’re talking about love, the most sacred thing on the earth” Alice said “tell us about your wedding, was it romantic as James’s parents?”
“SHUT UP LONGBOTTOM! YOU’RE MOTHER WAS A FREAK WHO DIDN’T BELONG IN HOGWARTS AND YOUR FATHER WAS POTTERS LAPDOG WHO WAS A PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A GRYFFINDOR”
The class looked at professor corner in shock. Alice started to cry.
“Hem, hem”
The class turned to see the headmistress standing at the doorway.
“I came to see if you were feeling all right Cho, after all you looked rather pale at breakfast. Imagine my surprise to see you bullying one of my students” professor McGonagall said sharply “class, you’re dismissed, I need to speak to professor corner.”
Defence was cancelled for the rest of the day. The Weasleys, Longbottoms, Potters, Scorpious, Juniper, and Hazel were chatting excitedly, when professor McGonagall asked for attention.
“I’m afraid professor corner, has been permanently dismissed-
The school exploded into cheers
“Yes, yes so for the rest of the year I have hired someone that will help you reach your potential, students I give you Harry Potter”
The school exploded into an applause when Harry came through the doors.
After dinner Lily dragged Hazel to meet her father.
“Daddy, this is Hazel Dursley my best friend” she said after her father pulled her into a hug.
“Hello Hazel, I’m Harry” he said.
Hazel looked into Harry’s eyes to see her own staring back.
“You….you have my eyes” she said
“Well, where did you expect Lily to get her eyes from?” he asked looking rather amused.
“Now Lily darling just out of curiosity, since when was my anniversary on Valentines Day? Me and your mother was under the impression that we got married in September” Harry said trying hard not to laugh.
The rest of the year was enjoyable. They passed girls passed their exams, they played and laughed. The Weasley twins played pranks, the whole school loved defence again. Everything was right.
Hazel didn’t want to go back home, she hated it. Being away from Lily twisted her insides till they’re so tight she might explode. Everything was packed; Prue, Lilac, Georgia and Lily had just dragged their trunks down to the common room, leaving Hazel in peace. She burst into tears.
“Hazel, Hazel what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
Hazel looked up to see Lily standing by the door. “I don’t want to go home. I want to stay here with you” she whispered.
“Hazel, I’m going to miss you too. But-
“But nothing Lils. It’s horrible at home, so cold. My mum has closed herself off, my father works all the time, my grandmother is only just starting to reach out for me and my grandfather is a hideous git” Hazel said.
“I was going to say, but it will only be a month, dad just invited you and your parents to spend august at our place. It will be fun, it means we’ll spend our birthdays together and you get to meet the rest of my family and be at Teddy’s wedding” Lily said wrapping her arms round Hazel.
“Really what did dad say?”
“He said you can come but your mum and dad are taking your grandparents on holiday to sort things out”
“So….”
“So we’re looking to a fun summer” Lily said grinning.
And at that moment Hazel learnt the true meaning of being a soul twin. Someone to understand you, someone to care for you, someone to be your opposite. Lily and Hazel were defiantly opposites. Hazel is a shy, girly bookworm and Lily is a temperamental, outgoing tomboy.
