CHILDREN'S HELL
Based on the movie "The Others"

AN--- Right. So, this just hit me, and I had to write it and then post it, for fear of the plot bunny mauling me if I did otherwise. This is set RIGHT after the very first lesson they show us in the movie; where Anne and 'Mummy' and Nicholas disgust Children's Hell... Hence the story. P

Review, because I'll be surprised if anyone reads this fic.

Mummy had explained countless times that there was no logical reason a person should be afraid of the dark. Granted, Anne had explained just as many times that this was precisely why a person should be scared of the dark, but Mummy had promptly dismissed the idea and called Anne the devil’s advocate (a term Nicholas didn’t quite understand and Mummy hadn’t bothered to explain, but he quite liked and had taken to using it to describe everything from milk to a frustrating lesson) and reassured Nicholas.

But, as always, Anne’s words hit far closer to home for Mummy’s to matter, and the darkness seemed to close in around him know matter what his mother cooed at him - no matter how tightly he squeezed his rosary.

So as his mother finished locking the door from the outside and the soothing sound of her steps slowly faded away, Nicholas could think of plenty of reasons to be afraid of the dark.

The edges of the rosary bit deep into his fist as he squeezed it, eyes narrowed as he peered warily over his shoulder, brows furrowed.

Nicholas knew that when he died, he was going to Children’s Hell. It stood to reason that, if lying about loving and believing in God could send you there, wishing you were dead (because then you wouldn’t be afraid of the dead things in the dark, you see?) would to.
