VAN HELSING 2: THE DEMON'S RISING

Gabriel watched as his parents told Victoria of her past. The girl had finally changed into her regular clothing, much to the shock of her parents.

"You actually like wearing that?" her mother asked when she saw her.

"Yes. It's comfortable and easy to move in. Not like a dress." was Furie's reply.

"You used to love dresses."

"That was then, mother. This is now." her daughter said. Truthfully, Gabriel preferred her normal garb over her in dresses.

The others spoke softly to each other, wondering about what will happen now. That was a question that ran through everyone's mind. Amelia and William were dead, so what point was there to not return to Rome?

I need to do it tonight. Gabriel thought. He fumbled for the ring in his pocket, all the while watching Anna. She remained in the corner, wearing a smile on her face. He walked over to her and took her hand.

"Can I speak to you in private?" he asked softly. Anna nodded, her face soon filled with curiosity. Gabriel then led her up the stairs into her room. The only light that was to be seen was from the moon outside. He took a deep breath. For once in his life, Gabriel Van Helsing found himself nervous.

"Anna," he started softly "you know that I love you, right?"

His love nodded. "Where is this going, Gabriel?" she asked. She slowly walked forward, closer to him.

He removed the ring from his pocket. The moon's reflection made it shine. Anna's eyes went wide.

"Anna, would you-" Gabriel began, but he didn't finish. Anna had snatched him in a hug.

"You don't have to ask me!" she yelled excitedly. She couldn't help but laugh. Gabriel soon found himself laughing too. "We need to tell the others!" Anna said.

"Right." Gabriel said. He took her hand and placed the ring on her finger. The two looked up at each other. Anna leaned forward and kissed Gabriel.

Their moment was interrupted by a loud, whistle from outside. The two turned to the window. In a moment, their heads peered outside to see Furie, clapping.

"What are you doing?" Gabriel asked.

"Did you honestly think this wouldn't go unnoticed?" Furie yelled. She did make a point.

"So, now what?" she called.

"I suppose we go back." Gabriel said with a shrug.

"All of of us?" Victoria said in a pleading tone.

"Yes, all of us."

"Well, in that case I'd better get them." Furie said.

"You don't have to!" came a voice. Millie, Tom, and Antonio soon appeared, Carl panting from behind them.

Gabriel's eyes widened. When she said all of us, this isn't what I had in mind. he thought. "Did you have to bring everyone?" he asked.

"Well, considering we're a family-"

"Wait. Hold it. We're a family now?" Millie asked. "Please tell me I'm adopted." she said jokingly.

Antonio rolled his eyes. "I'll get the horses." he said. It didn't take him long, although he appeared to be going for a carriage ride and he forgot the horses when he came back. Gabriel and Anna rushed down the stairs and outside.

"Is everyone ready?" Gabriel asked when he and Anna were mounted.

"As I'll ever be." Carl replied.

"Why do you have to be so pessimistic?" Furie asked.

"I don't enjoy being in the company of people who used to be monsters." he replied.

"Who said I stopped?" the former archdemon joked. Carl gulped. Anna and Gabriel laughed softly.

"Are you ready?" Gabriel asked

She turned to him. "As long as your beside me, I'll always be prepared." she said. With that she rode off.

Gabriel then turned to Victoria. "You know, you don't have to go if you don't want to come." he said.

"And let you have all the fun? No way!" she said.

In moments, the only remnants of their coming was a set of hoof prints in the snow that went off into the night, and a goodbye note to the Van Helsing family...
