FAMILY MATTERS
Based on the TV Show "Lost Girl"

"Kenzi, can you please stop staring?" Bo asked, glancing over at her roomate. The same roomate who was currently sitting on the arm of the couch's other end trying to tug open the pint of chocolate swirl ice cream she'd just claimed from the fridge, "It's starting to freak me out a little."

"I'm not staring,"Kenzi replied, finally peeling the cover off, "I'm contemplating."

"Oh," Bo responded teasingly, looking over at her, "Contemplating what?"

"How I feel," the human replied, digging in to the dessert, "About having a roomate with a furry fetish."

She looked up with a smirk, enjoying the startled look that crossed the succubus' face. Shaking her head, Bo turned away, reaching over to pick up her own pint on the coffee table.

"I'm not even sure I want to know what you're talking about," she scoffed.

"Oh, come on, Bo," Kenzi said dryly, tilting her head to the side as she examined her carefully crafted scoop of the chocolate concoction, "What is Kira, like the third wolf you've tried to pick up? It's hard not to see a bit," she pinched the pointer and thumb of her free hand close together, "Of a pattern developing here."

She swallowed the ice cream, grinning at the glare sent her way. She knew the succubus well enough to tell when she'd taken an interest in someone and there had definitely been flags going up around Kira. Letting go of the container, Bo sat back and shifted to face her.

"For your information," the Fae responded defensively, pointing at Kenzi, "I wasn't trying to pick her up. We were just talking."

"Uh huh," came back the disbebelieving reply, "So that's why you invited her back to our place?"

"As I recall, you're the one who reminded her she was injured."

Kenzi shrugged. Slidding onto the cushions, she stirred her dessert thoughtfully.

"I not saying I was against her coming over," she replied, taking another bite. She waved the empty spoon at Bo, "I'm just noting, for the record, that she looks a lot like a pair of certain, intimate aquaintance of ours...well, yours."

She felt a pang of sympathy as her friend shifted uncomfortably.

"You noticed that, huh?" Bo asked, sounding a little ashamed.

Kenzi nodded, "Kinda hard to miss, babe. Not that it's a bad thing..."

"I hear a but coming."

Kenzi smiled. Leaning over, she patted the succubus' knee affectionately.

"But," she agreed, "You've been taking a lot of boob punches from the lurv department lately and, magic honey pot or not, I just want you to be careful before jumping into something that could make things more complicated."

"This from the same girl who told me rebound sex with a fury was a good idea?"

"Right..." Kenzi replied, biting her lip as she glanced over at the kitchen. Then, changing tactics, she pointed back at the succubus and added, "Which is exactly the kind of lesson that should drive my po-"

"Kenz, Kenz, I'm kidding" Bo interrupted, reaching over to wrap the human into a hug, "Believe me, I get it. And I appreciate the concern. You don't have to worry, though; I'm not planning on jumping Kira anytime soon. There's just something...interesting about her."

"Oh, good," Kenzi said, "Minus the un-needed mental visual," she pulled away and stood up, "Then on that note, I'm gonna get another pint. You want anything, Boo?"

Bo shook her head, reaching once more for yet un-opened ice-cream.

"Besides" she added, not quite able to hide the disappointment in her voice, as Kenzi walked into the kitchen, "I'm pretty sure Kira's firmly planted in the males only camp."

"You and Ciara have a fight or something?" Hale asked as he passed his partner's curiously occupied desk the next morning. Dyson glanced up, giving him a quick, questioning looking before returning his attention back to the moniter.

"No, why?" he asked, frowning at the screen.

"Oh, I don't know," Hale replied as he took of his coat, "It's just this is the first time in the last couple weeks you've been in before me."

"I had something I needed to look into," Dyson explained, not looking up. Hale rolled his eyes and took a seat.

Leaning in, he added quietly, "That something wouldn't happen to be tall, brunette, and had her ass handed to her by two ghouls last night, would it?"

The glare he recieved was answer enough. Lifting a hand appeasingly, he muttered a couple alrights, sat back, and picked up the top folder off the growing pile of paperwork taking over his desk. It wasn't long, however, before he heard a sharp exhale come from Dyson's direction.

"What's up, D?" he asked, glancing up from the file.

"I can't find this Kira anywhere in our sytems," Dyson replied sounding annoyed. Sitting back, the shifter unconciously curled his right hand into a fist.

"Did you check the records from other counties?" Hale asked, not really paying close attention.

"Second and third place I looked," came the reply, "She hasn't shown up anywhere."

This time, Hale looked up. Frowning, he considered the situation for a moment. Finally, with curiousity getting the better of him, he plugged in a thumb drive and pulled up the private files on all the

"Kenzi said she was a shifter right?" he asked, typing her name into the search bar.

"Yeah, she told Bo she worked for a security company in Germany," Dyson added, ignoring the questioning look Hale sent him, "And I've already checked the registered employees for the companies I know there."

Shaking his head, the siren made a quick modification to his search parameters. Scanning the screen, he asked, "You mind telling me what is about this girl that's got you so bothered, man?"

Before Dyson could answer, however, the chief ducked his head into the squad room. Spotting the pair, he called out, "Dyson, Hale, my office. Now!"

"Guess you'll have to tell me later," Hale said after the two exchanged a curious glance. Dyson gave a quick nod in his direction. Simultaneously, both Fae detectives stood and headed after the chief.
